Alfreton Town 1-1 U's

Cambridge United came from a goal behind to earn a point at Alfreton Town this evening.

The hosts took the lead on 15 minutes after Paul Clayton got the vital touch on former U, Tom Shaw's strike.

United came close to leveling through Ryan Donaldson, his shot was brilliantly tipped on to the post by Reds keeper Ross Atkins.

Harrison Dunk also cam close for United, while at the other end, Chris Maxwell did well to prevent Wylde & Brady extending the hosts lead.

HT: Alfreton 1-0 U's

The U's could have been two down within the first minute of the second half, but John Akinde found the frame of the post much to the travelling Amber Army's relief.

Cunnington and Spillane were replaced with Arnold and Berry early in the second half and the U's then began to dominate.

The equaliser came on 63 minutes, Ryan Donaldson's fierce drive from a U's free kick found the back of the net.

Akinde came close again for the hosts, while Berry, Arnold and Appiah could have sealed the points for the U's.
