Programme preview:

U’S LEFT BACK JAKE CARROLL FEELS HE STILL HAS “PLENTY MORE TO COME” FOLLOWING HIS TRANSITION INTO CAMBRIDGE UNITED FROM THIS EVENING’S OPPONENTS HARTLEPOOL UNITED.

The 25-year old was United’s first acquisition in the January transfer window and has enjoyed a good run of games in Shaun Derry’s side since arriving at the club. Carroll feels it’s been a period that has allowed him to settle in quickly but admits he still has more to offer to the team.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed the transition since moving to the Club in January. I feel like it’s been a real step up in everything.

“I really enjoy training, the speed of it and the quality of the stuff we work on. My body has taken a little bit of time to get used to the intensity that we work at, so you do pick up little aches and pains but in the long run that improves you as a player.

“It was nice to come to the club and get a sustained period in the team. We have excellent competition for places here and one person’s downfall whether that be through injury or if they need a rest, is another person’s opportunity.

“From my point of view, there were a few lads out injured during my first month or so and I had the chance to go straight into the team and show what I was about.

“So far I feel it has been a bit up and down in terms of results and my performances and now I am working on finding that level of consistency. There is definitely plenty more to come!”
