CAMBRIDGE UNITED BEGIN BUSINESS IN JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

2 January 2016

U’s complete Lewis Page loan signing and extended Ledson deal

Cambridge United make the first movements in the January transfer window, by completing the loan signing of West Ham defender Lewis Page on a month deal and extending Ryan Ledson’s loan spell at the Abbey Stadium.

The U’s have initially agreed the signing of left back Page, 19, until February.

Page is a product of the Hammer’s Academy system and made his first team debut in July 2015, a year after signing his first professional contract with the club, during the Irons’ Europa League qualifying round matches.

Commenting on the new arrival at the Abbey Stadium, U’s Boss Shaun Derry said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of another highly rated young player from a Premier League club.

“Lewis is an enthusiastic, modern day full-back with energy to burn and a desire to improve.”

Page could be in line to make his opening appearance for United in this afternoon’s Sky Bet League Two clash against AFC Wimbledon at the Abbey Stadium.

The U’s have also secured the services of midfielder Ryan Ledson for a further month, having agreed an extended loan with Everton. The 18-year old has impressed in a number of performances since joining the club in November, in which he has made his Football League debut.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jeff Hughes has moved out on loan for the remainder of the campaign to National League side Tranmere Rovers and young defender Danny Burns has returned to Lowestoft Town on loan until the end of the season.
